How to know and Identify a Good Honey from a fake one

How to know and Identify a Good Honey from a fake one

Honey is one of the natural gifts of life; this byproduct has several benefits that improve human health. It is a substance with natural sweetness; it is a very strong antibiotics and anti-inflammatory substance. Honey is also a very good substitute to sugar. All these attributes belong to an unadulterated honey, that is, raw honey.
Knowing raw and unadulterated honey seems esoteric; most of the honey consumers are naive, they gleefully accept anything called honey in as much as it has a brown color. Some honey sellers actually sell sugar syrup as raw honey, this is not good enough.
I will take you through three ways you will identify an adulterated honey and a raw honey, as you read through. These ways are:
• Water test.
• Thumb test.
• Flame test.

WATER TEST

Water is a universal solvent; it can be used to identify pure and untainted honey. To do this,
Get a cup or bowl and fill it with water; add a table spoon of honey into the cup or bowl. If the honey dissolves sparingly in the water; like, you see the honey around the cup or bowl. It means, it is an adulterated honey. A pure honey will settle at the base of the cup or bowl.

THUMB TEST

You can as well test the authenticity of your honey with your thumb. To do this,
Put a droplet of honey on your thumb. If it spills around, it means the honey is not pure. Pure honey stays intact on the thumb.

FLAME TEST

Pure honey supports burning. You can confirm the genuineness of your honey by using a match box and stick. Simply deep the match stick in a bowl of honey, just the coated end alone. Strike the stick on the match box, just as if you want to light it. If the match stick lights with ease, it means the honey is pure; but if it doesn’t, it means the honey is contaminated.
Also, the viscosity and quality of a honey are determined by its maturity. A light honey is immature but a thick honey is very mature. The color and taste of any honey is determined by the source of the pollen and nectar the bees feed on.
If a bee gets pollen and nectar from a neem tree, the taste of the honey will be somehow bitter.
Such honey is very medicine by the virtue of the healing property of the neem tree.
These are some facts you should know about honey before purchasing and consuming it
