Pokemon Go fans don't have to wait very long for the next in-game event, which starts later today.
Niantic revealed the news earlier this week, telling fans that a special Pokemon Day update would hit Pokemon Go on February 26.
To celebrate the release of the very first Pokemon games in Japan, Niantic has released a set of special Pikachu into the wild.
So from 9pm later tonight until 9pm on March 6, Pokemon Go players can encounter Pikachu wearing special party hats.
Here's what Niantic had to say about the special event: "Pikachu is ready to lead the Pokémon Day celebration in Pokémon GO. From February 26 at 1pm PST to March 6 at 1pm PST (9pm UK time), any Pikachu you encounter in the wild will be wearing a festive party hat!
"The Pikachu you catch during that time will keep its party hat forever, so be sure to look for this special Pikachu during its short time in the wild."
Niantic also wants fans to share snaps of any Pokemon they encounter by using the AR camera and Pokemo
The Pokemon Company has lots of things planned for Pokemon Day, including movie marathons, competitions and in-game events.
There's even a new Pikachu-themed 3DS XL, which went on sale earlier this week.
Other big Pokemon Day promotions include Pokemon Shuffle in-game events, as well as Pokemon Card Game festivities.
"Pokemon Day is a good reminder that big promotions are going on in Pokémon Shuffle, too." the Pokemon Company blog post continues.
"The popular Nintendo 3DS game is celebrating two years of challenging fans with puzzle fun. Take a look at the in-game notifications to get more details on these upcoming opportunities."
The news comes after data miners uncovered all kinds of secrets by delving into the latest Pokemon Go APK update.
It turns out that shiny Pokemon will be represented by different icons on the world map.
Furthermore, players attempting to transfer shiny Pokemon will receive a warning message before swapping their pocket monster for candy.
This is an especially welcome move, especially considering the chances of encountering them are 1 in 8192
